Design Statement

In our ever-increasing, enclosed man-made environment, it is essential for refined color design, Color affects light, space and form. It also influences our emotions, energy and productivity.

Aesthetics is important part of designing space, but the science of color is essential in creating the whole environment.

The science of color refers to history, anthropology, architecture, science, and mathematics. Understanding Color, in reference to these and many other applicable studies; aids in creating an optimal environment.

I can relate Color to Food.

“We should fill space with Flavor…Spice with Seasoned Sensibility.”

- Kathleen Hope

It is intuitive ingredients that makes a successful color recipe, not a packaged or trendy formula.

FLAVOR- Applies to our cultural, personal associations and function of a space.

SPICE- Refers to the harmony, balance and tension of color. It is the art and science of color that creates this sensual combination.

SEASONED SENSIBILITY- Defines the highly skilled color professional that understands and applies these skills.

artist Profile

Kathleen Hope has been a color consultant since 1995. Her background includes; Fine Art, Decorative Painting, Feng Shui and an educational background in Color Psychology and Physiological Effects from the IACCNA. She is an active member in the International Association of Color Consultants in North America and continues her studies as part of this Association.

As a Colorist, her focus is to carefully design environments that infuse a touch ability, a balanced therapeutic space which is appropriate visually and functionally. Appropriate color application and good design promotes “Quality Living”.

This is a delicate balance that requires a greater understanding of color than just the visual aspect. As a painter, I have an emotional sensitivity and tactile intimacy with color. This along with my studies at IACCNA (which is a more focused scientific study in color) has been essential to creating appropriate, refined spaces.
